Apple Launches 5mm-Thin IMac - More Appealing Features Inside

Following the legacy of Steve Jobs to surprise the world all of a sudden with dazzling gizmos and alluring and innovative features, Apple has introduced 5mm thick iMac model--perhaps the thinnest computer ever made. What makes the launch more interesting is that Apple had never given a hint on this facelift of iMac prior to the launch. Phil Schiller, senior vice-president of Apple, while introducing the newest model, addressed it as "the most beautiful Mac we have ever made." Let us now take a trip to check if Schiller was right in his words.

So what makes it so thin?

Apple reworked on the internals and the display part of the iMac to make it lighter and thinner. And what was the outcome-the display system is 45% thinner than the previous iMac and has shed 8 pounds. The model is available in the market in 21.5-inch and 27-inch versions and resolutions of 1920 by 1080 and 2560 by 1440 pixels, respectively.

The features galore

When it comes to the storage part, Apple has done everything to keep the users satisfied. The new iMac has 'Fusion Drive' that combines 128 GB of flash storage with a hard drive in 1TB and 3TB capacities. However it should be noted that the Fusion Drive is not a part of the standard configuration of iMac (Apple is yet to announce the price of iMacs with Fusion Drive as an in-built feature).
Among other features in the iMac, there is a built-in FaceTime HD camera along with dual microphones, stereo speakers, built-in Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0.

The SDXC card slot is on the back, between the headphone jack and the USB 3.0 ports. This was earlier placed next to the optical drive which is no more available in the new iMac version. Speaking about the memory part, the 21.5-inch gadget has two RAM slots to support 16 GB of running memory, while the 27.5-inch thingy has four RAM slots to support 32 GB of memory.

And what about the processor? Oops! I missed it till now! Here you are. You get a choice of 2.7 and 2.9 GHz quad-core Core i5 with the 21.5-inch variant. The 27-inch variant also comes with a choice of 2.9 GHz and 3.2 GHz quad-core Core i5 processors. Last, but not the least, all 'thin' iMacs come bundled with 512MB nVidia GeForce GTX 675M graphics.

Is it pricy?

Now it seems you cannot resist owning your iMac model. But need to wait a little more, say one month or two for that. Coming to the pricing part, the 21-5-inch iMac will reach your hands at $1,299 while you need to shell out $1,799 to own the larger version.

Looking at the captivating features and breathtaking design along with realistic price tags it is sure for the Apple iMac to make the competing models insomniac in the days and nights ahead.
