Focus - For Your Website, Your Business, Your Life?

For many of us, focusing on one thing for more than a few moments is HARD.
As I write this, I have 11 tabs opened across my browser... all things I'm trying to focus on, a second or two before I jump to the next idea or shiny object. This is not including the 7 applications I have open and probably 10 windows nested behind this one on my desktop.

That's just my computer, much less in other areas of my life!

If you have a website and you're reading this email, chances are you're an entrepreneur or someone who is working on a project to get it off the ground and marketed to the world. In my experience, we're the types of people that usually have our hands in multiple projects, multiple websites and maybe even multiple businesses at one time.

Why do we do this?

I'm guessing one of the main reasons is that it provides a sense of security: if this one thing doesn't work out, you have another thing to lean into. It might also provide a sense of excitement, thinking that one of the ideas might take off, so you're keeping your options open for that to happen.

This could be precisely what's keeping you from getting where you want to go.

If you could focus all your energy on one business, pulling out all the stops, you wouldn't have the luxury of a "backup plan"... which would make you work that much harder to get it going.
It works in relationships, right? If you try to keep several girlfriends or boyfriends, none of the relationships is likely going to give you the true intimacy and fulfillment you could find if you put your energy into just one.
What if you focused all your attention for just 5 minutes in the morning on your intention for the day? I imagine you'd be clearer in what to do if you had one focused goal for the day. Or for the hour. I know I would be.

What if you focused all your energy--or your audience's attention--to driving to one action on your landing page or home page? What if you were so clear in the direction that it became easy for your audience to know just where to go and the value they'll get by going there?
If you focus in on the action you want your audience to take and the message you want to get across to them (i.e. your expertise in a certain topic, your offer on a product, your commitment to their results, etc,), how might you change the text, images or video on your homepage?
If you're not sure where to focus or how to organize your content around your focus, email me. In a brief conversation, we can probably clarify it for you.

In the meantime, I'm going to see how long I can go with only using one tab at a time. Ha!
